Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Override application ("App") or visiting override-app.org ("Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and the operator of Override, contactable at ask@override-app.org.
2. Description of Service
Override is a mobile application designed to support urge interruption and behavioral recovery. It provides tools including guided breathing exercises, cognitive reframe prompts, urge tracking, and streak monitoring. Override is a self-help tool and is not a medical device, clinical service, or substitute for professional mental health treatment.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or crisis line in your region.
3. User Accounts
You may use Override with or without creating an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information during registration. You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their consent.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Override only for its intended purpose — personal behavioral support and recovery. You agree not to:
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or regulation
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
- Use automated tools to access or scrape the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
- Use the Service to harm, harass, or deceive others
5. Subscriptions & Payments
Override may offer a premium subscription ("Override Premium") with additional features. Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store and managed via RevenueCat. All billing, refunds, and subscription management are governed by Apple's terms and your device's App Store account settings.
Subscription fees are charged at the start of each billing period. You may cancel at any time through your Apple ID settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued.
6. Intellectual Property
All content within Override — including the app design, copy, graphics, exercises, and underlying code — is owned by the operator of Override and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
Override is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We make no guarantees regarding recovery outcomes — Override is a support tool, not a guarantee of results.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of Override shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Override, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of progress, or emotional harm. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Override at any time, with or without notice, if we have reason to believe you have violated these Terms or if required to do so by law. You may also delete your account at any time through the App settings.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email. Continued use of Override after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
